// GETTING STARTED

Up and running in a few minutes.

What OpenShield does

OpenShield turns "this is spam" into action. Report a spam email with one click, and we capture proof, quietly ask the sender's provider to stop it, and — if they ignore us — take it public and eventually open a community bounty. We never attack anyone; we escalate through official channels, in the open.

1. Add the extension

Install the OpenShield extension for Chrome or Edge. It works on Gmail and Outlook web today. See the install walkthrough for the current download link.

2. Or connect the Gmail add-on

If you use Gmail on your phone or want it built into Gmail directly, connect the OpenShield add-on instead. It uses a short one-time code to link your account — no separate password to remember. Start at the connect page.

3. Report your first spam email

Open a spam email and click "Report to OpenShield." That's it — we take it from there. You can watch it move through the public process on the Wall of Shame.

4. Sign in for the full experience

You need an account to report and vote (this keeps the system honest — see Your account). Sign in with a magic link at your portal.
